The Deer Gift
Single Channel, HD, Stereo
"The deer gift" is a short video work set in the virtual nature space of the game Grand Theft Auto V. The video superimposes two approaches between man and animal. On the sound level, a drunken hunter explains his trained ability to attract a deer by rutting calls. "Some people say I have the deer gift," he boasts. These artificial animal sounds accompany the digital approach between a character and a doe from the computer game. Couple animations are applied to the two bodies, resulting in a relationship that is literally twisted. "The deer gift" is part of two video exhibitions by The One Minutes Foundation: "PAW" curated by Ceel Mogami de Haas and "Imagine the earth is your lover" curated by Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens. It premiered at Reykjavík International Film Festival in September 2020. "The deer gift" is part of a series of works that deal in different ways with technology as a mediator between humans and animals.
